Bwahhaahaaa!!! Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween - Ghoulish Apron Goddesses Style!!

And here are a few pumpkins we carved for your obligatory Jack-o-Lantern exposure!

And if you are already planning for next Halloween, you should check out some of these "costume-like" witch aprons that you can find at Gingerly Garnished! This one is quite adorable!

This is another Gingerly Garnished Halloween apron that I liked. You could put all your candy in the pockets for the trick- or-treaters at the door. Then there'd be no looting in the candy bowl when you were not looking.

Then this beauty made by Spice Rak Designs could not be left out of the parade for obvious skulduggerous reasons.

Have a great day Apron Goddesses!!!

Oh, There's one last thing.

BOO!

Loving the Aprons and Baker's Hats

Miss Dot and her sister are very excited for Halloween. You should see some of the stuff they are working on. You will be impressed. You see, she likes to make cupcakes and the ones she has been making lately are pretty spooky. Check out THIS POST to see some of the fun cupcakes she has made to celebrate Halloween. In the picture above you can see Miss Dot and her sister wearing their adorable aprons and baker's hats while showing off their Spooktacular Haunted Houses.

Two Craft Aprons Go To........

The lucky Apron Goddess who is the winner this week of the lovely pair of Aprons from Apron Frenzy is:

Yipee for Brenda!!!

Thank You Apron Frenzy for your sponsorship of these aprons!!  Remember that you can still get your fall aprons for Thanksgiving celebration at Apron Frenzy like this one pictured below.   What are you waiting for?

In the Middle of Hallween Madness

I am up to my elbows in Hallween Madness! Today is the last day of school for the week and the demands are ON! Prepared, as always, I donned one of my many aprons and got to work.

For Adam's class I get to do an ice cream demonstration, we will make vanilla. When that is done they get to have some Pumpkin Ice Cream that I made ahead of time. Then they get to top it off with some graham crackers, mini-chocolate chips and some whip cream. I think that will be a great way to start of the Pumpkin Unit they started at the beginning of the week.

Trevor's class is having a Party and I get to help out. Me and another mom are putting on the party. We have decided to do bobbing for do-nuts, spider pops, word search/cross word puzzle, and ring toss.....on a pumpkin of course. It will be fun. Oh, and I get to bring in some pumpkin cupcakes! What better Fall treat is there?

I can't honestly say what Luke's class is doing, but I do know they requested candy corn, popcorn, and parent volunteers. I am anxiously awaiting to hear about his activities. Like I said....I. HAVE. NO. IDEA. what they are up to.

Along with all this..............the entire 2nd grade class has to bring in baked goods for a Bake Sale. The kids are trying to raise some money to go towards a butterfly sanctuary that gets funding from the state. California is in dire straits and is making cuts all over the place. This particular program is in danger of being shut down. Our kids go to this place to see, first hand, the stages of the Monarch Butterfly. If it is closed we won't have this amazing experience. So, wanna buy a brownie bite?

You wanna try to make the ice cream at home? Here is the recipe:

1 3/4 c. pumpkin puree
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
2 c. heavy whipping cream

If you don't have an ice cream maker go HERE.

In a large bowl mix pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and spices.
Stir in heavy whipping cream.
Chill in fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Pour into ice cream maker and mix about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer's instructions.

Enjoy!

This Really Has Nothing to Do With Aprons...

except that it includes food.  But when I saw this photo I could not resist.

I loved the orange "Gates" by artist Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude that was set in New York's Central Park in 2005.  Here is the food version for your viewing pleasure.

It's been crisp and clear and cold at my house and this kind of warmed me up in an orange way.  I don't know, call it post flu effects...

The Great Cake Assault - Part IV

Watch your cakes! He's at it again!

This crafty cake assaulter is trying his best to burn this cake to oblivion. It looks as though he grabbed his kitchen torch to do some damage to this "Star" of a cake. He is in disguise mode, wearing his chef's apron, a towel over his head, and sunglasses to prevent us from seeing who he really is. The more we see of this bandit, the more clear it becomes how much he LOVES to destroy these delectable desserts. How many more ways can he destroy something so tasty? I think we need to go on a hunt for this bandit and just fill him full of cake......maybe then he will have a better appreciation for it. If there are any sightings of this cake hater call the number below.

Please call:

Domestic Diva Indeed!

Love, love, love this apron. I wish I could call myself a "Domestic Diva!" This apron is on Vanessa's husband. She is the mind behind Crafty & Creative and has an Etsy shop called Bears, Banners, & Graphics.

She says "It's my hubby wearing a "Domestic Diva" apron ha ha! We were visiting my sister-in-law last year for Thanksgiving and the day after we had a BBQ. My Sister-in-law thought this was the perfect apron for the BBQ Master."

Not only does hubby like to BBQ, but Vanessa likes to cook. You can find a tasty looking skillet dinner HERE. Anything with the word lazy in it and regarding dinner is right up my alley, I am going to have to try this recipe when dear, loving hubby isn't around (he isn't partial to cheese).

She also has a recipe that looks absolutely divine! Who doesn't like chocolate and peanut butter together? If any of you are thinking to yourself "I don't", then don't tell me because there is just something so heavenly about that food combination. In fact I just printed the recipe before finishing this post. For those of you who drool over the confectionery combination go check it out HERE! I can't wait to try it.

For those of you who are looking to revamp, redecorate, or just try something new with your blog go see Vanessa's Etsy site, Bears, Banners & Graphics.

She can even make up some business cards if that is what you need. So go check her out at Etsy and at her blog Crafty & Creative, leave her a comment and let her know you stopped in from TAG.

Thank you Vanessa and Emil for sharing your apron photo. We love it when the men take a turn wearing the aprons. We especially love it when the men wear it with pride as Emil is here.

Apron Goddess Aunt Spicy Kicks Up Her Heels

Good Sunday Apron Goddesses!

Today I hope you can sit back and relax with your feet up like Aunt Spicy who is showing off her apron and legs while researching cupcakes!! She said, "I like to call this "What's for dinner?" Its hard to tell, but that is the Martha Stewart Cupcakes book on top of the apron."

So I guess cupcakes are appropriate for a dinner meal now if Aunt Spicy says so... Just don't tell my kids please.

At Aunt Spicy's you can see wonderful sewing creations that this genius of the sewing machine can create! See this pillow below? It is one Aunt Spicy made for me! My number came up three times in a random drawing (even though I said don't count me) so she said that she had to make me something. How can I complain?

Denim Apron Goddess

Jennifer at A House on a Hill is a lover of aprons. She frequents TAG on a regular basis and enters each weeks giveaway.

The apron she is wearing is a home made creation. She found a pattern in Sewing Savvy that had a pattern for re-purposing a pair of overalls. When she saw the article she knew exactly what she was going to do, you can read about it HERE. Not only does Jennifer make her own aprons, she quilts and enters them into fairs to be judged. I have to say I appreciate women who do this because the quilts are just gorgeous and so far out of my realm that all I can do is admire them. I'm a little jealous too only because I wish I had the talent they posses to create something so beautiful. Here are some examples of Jennifer's work:

This one is called Tulips.

This is The Burning Brush.

Aren't they gorgeous? In fact she won a first for both of these quilts. If you want to see the ones that won second you can find them HERE. Now go check out A House on the Hill and say hello to Jennifer!

Now would Michael Angelo be offended at this apron or just amused?

Is this the defamation of art or decency for the modest?

Rainy Night's Daughter is an Apron Goddess

Paula from On A Rainy Night is sharing pictures of her daughter wearing a couple of very nice aprons.

Here are a couple of aprons I made. My daughter, Shilo, is the model. She is wearing her "Day of the Dead" apron in her very first kitchen. She doesn't like to cook, but when she moved into her own apartment she informed me that she needed an apron, so "Day of the Dead" was born.

Paula picked out some fantastic fabric. It is very fitting for this time of year too. After all Halloween is right around the corner. Celebrated in Mexico as "Day of the Dead" which is also known as "All Souls Day" on November 2nd.

The second apron is a Japanese-themed apron that I made for a swap. We were to make an apron for our swap partner that represented their dream vacation. My partner wanted to go to Japan, so I found some beautiful Japanese motive fabric and paired it with a silky gold for the trim. The pocket is in the shape of a fan.

What a gorgeous apron! The cherry blossoms are stunning and I love the fan for a pocket. I think Paula nailed this apron for her partner. I hope she loves it as much as I am admiring it.

Fall is finally here and Paula is sharing some incredible recipes for Squash and Sausage Pot Pie and Caramel Apple Upside-Down Cornmeal Cake. You can check it out HERE and HERE. They are going to be prepared at some point in my kitchen.

Don't be shy Apron Goddesses, go say Hello to Paula at On A Rainy Night...

Fun New Apron Patterns from Laurie's Gifts-Giveaway of a Twirly Skirt Apron

Owner Laurie from Laurie's Gifts has brought to light a new type of apron to The Apron Goddesses which I think is too cute for words. She calls it her Twirly Skirt Apron and she said, "When my girls were little, I made them a LOT of twirly skirts-- full circle-skirts that they loved to twirl about in. Well, they still love them, and I hope you will too."

Therefore, Laurie has sponsored the giveaway of this Marseille Twirly Skirt Apron. At Laurie's Gifts you can find one of a kind creations or aprons made in sets of two.

Laurie said, "I name them after the title of the main fabric I'm using whenever possible. I've never been able to dream up with clever names for my products from my imagination!!!" But what she makes up for in her sewing of wonderful "dress" style aprons mitigates any naming issues she may claim to have.

This model measures 29" from the bib to the bottom of the skirt. The long sash can be tied either in the front or back as desired. Cute pocket on the bib is about 6" wide, and keeps your cell phone handy. This apron is made from 100% cotton.

At Laurie's Gifts you can also find an assortment of Boutique Bags like this one. She offers a variety of fabric patters in this style. She constructs unique fabric purses using designer quilt fabrics, some vintage fabrics, antique trims, notions, and more. They are all made with high quality materials and are built to last.

And to the giveaway!!

To enter the giveaway for this fabulous apron from Laurie's Gifts, visit the boutique and choose your favorite item. Come back to The Apron Goddesses and make a comment naming which apron or other item you like best. That will give you one entry into the giveaway.

For five extra entries into the drawing create a blog post about this giveaway, leaving your permalink in your comment.

And for 10 extra, bonus chances at winning send in a picture of you or a family member wearing an apron. (Contact is above) No headless apron wearers please!! I will write up your "apron-ography" in the weeks to come.
