Quite a Set UP

Good Thursday Morning Apron Goddesses!
I feel as if I have been MIA.....I guess I have, it's been about 2 weeks since I have graced you all with a picture and some words to follow.

Suzi here to bring you some men in aprons.

I think they have the right idea. It is quite the set-up. A small toaster oven with what appears to be pots on top for cooking. If only kitchen/dining areas were this simple. These men look thrilled to be preparing a meal for someone special. I even love the fact that they are taking great care by putting on their aprons in order to keep their attire nice and clean.

Boys, you can come cook for me anytime!

The Great Cake Assault - Part III

Well ladies and gents, he is at it again. This time the assaulter is wearing a mask and smoking a cig. I think he means business. This poor, poor cake is facing uncertain doom. The masked marauder is showing no mercy as he revs up his paper cutter (?) and is ready to make his hit. The vic? A two tier cake with fondant and charming little hearts.

It looks as if there is an accomplice to this assault who shows no shame in the torturing of said cake. You can see him looking on with a look of pure glee and anticipation of what is to come.

Remember, these men wear black and white aprons during the assault. If you see said men wearing this style apron, you can be they are armed and ready to take action on your baked goods.

The Great Cake Assault - Part II

Consider yourselves warned!
Content not suitable for young viewers.
The Great Cake Assault is back with a vengeance.
Hide your baked goods!

He is seen here taking vengeance on a poor, defenseless cake by injecting it with what looks like tequila. Let's hope it's tequila... It seems as though the assailant has put a strangle hold on the cake, but prepared for a struggle considering he had enough foresight to put on an apron.

Note the psychotic glare in his eye as he attacks "the victim." Is this the steely glare of a deranged cake killer or a mad scientist. Dr. Frankencupcake or Dr. Cakenstein? I don't even know any more. But it is shameless.

Hmmmm on second hand.....maybe not a bad idea. Cake? Tequila? Might make for a good combo and an evening full of fun. Maybe I should invite him to my next cupcake baking event.

Under the auspices of having a good time, maybe we should all start baking something RIGHT NOW to see if this guy will show up and give our baked goods the proper treatment with his syringe.

Don't forget to put on your apron first though.

If Only...

If only this was a reality in my house.

If only my dear loving, hubby forced me out of the kitchen so that he could manage the mess.

If only he wore an apron in order to do the dishes, sweep the floor, do the laundry, prepare a meal, and.....the list goes on.

If only he still manned the barbecue.

If only he would go to the grocery to buy more than an item or 2.

If only he still ran the vacuum, even if it was occasionally.

If only he took charge of the kids and the evening ritual of bathing, tooth brushing, story reading, and tucking in.

If only he'd bring me breakfast in bed.

If only he would run to Starbuck's on my special day (Mother's Day, Birthday) to get me a much loved and desired mocha.

If only this was not a dream and fantasy of mine.

How many of you are lucky enough to have a hubby who is more than willing to help out with the house hold chores?

Mine likes to mention what needs to be done as he sits down for some television pleasure as I toil about getting "things" done.

Here's to the Mom's who get it all done day in and day out!!!

Aprons Aren't Just for the Kitchen

This photo was taken January 1, 1917 in Nova Scotia. It is on file at the NS Museum of Cultural History.

It is hard to tell, but if you look closely you will notice that the two men who are not wearing hats are wearing leather aprons. The men work for The Eastern Car Co. Here they are taking a mid day break for the camera. They work with a big machine called a lathe. A lathe spins a block of material to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, and gives it symmetry about an axis of rotation. The pieces seen here laying on the tables are train axels. As it turns out this picture has been turned into a postcard.

Tara's Men at Five O'Clock Somewhere are Apron Gods!!!!

Wooo hooo!!! It's men in aprons today, ladies (and gentlemen). They are showing they can decorate like Martha at a party attended by Tara at Five O'Clock Somewhere, who provided us this awesome picture.

Tara wrote, "Every year friends' of ours have a Christmas Cookie Decorating Party. The host makes up hundreds of cookies in various shapes and lays out every color icing and every type of decoration you could imagine. Actually the guys (who are all firemen) are the ones that get most into the decorating. Then the host boxes all the decorated cookies up for the guests to take home. It is an event everyone looks forward to. At the end of the night (after everyone has had a little too much eggnog) the annual picture is taken of the firemen in the kitchen with aprons on. Which in turn becomes the following year's invitation."

What more can I say, except that I love the spirit of this picture.
Thank You Tara for this great photo!

You can visit Tara at her Five O'Clock Somewhere Etsy store where she sells wonderful hand made jewelery, some of it with equestrian influences which I love! I am coveting a particular item called the Hi Ho Silver Pendant (pictured left) since I have no horse jewelery at this time.

I am thinking this should be a great mothers day present from my family (Hint, hint!). Or maybe my horses will think to buy it for me instead.... They could give up some grain for the next month right?

I recommend looking at her beautiful selection of handcrafted artesian jewelery so pop over and take a look!

That was Then, This is Now

Enter the current apron giveaway from Gift an Apron HERE.

These men from antiquity are obviously hamming it up for the camera with their clean, white, frilly aprons. My guess would be these "good old boy's" never flipped a pancake in their entire lives.

Now days, this apron dress code may be found at any college fraternity, tail gait party, or maybe summer camp. Now these men know how to cook! Serve me up some more please. Ha! Can the guy in the black apron be my chef?

At this point I am really at a loss for words. Since it's 9:30 at night and I just finished unloading 30 bales of hay for my horses I must end this post here. And my husband is lurking somewhere around behind me.

You can say what you will, or what I can't think of in the comments. I am begging you...
