Apron Pattern Book Giveaway from Dorothy's Aprons!

Note: June's original website has changed during this giveaway, but she offers this book for sale via email.

I have a new type of giveaway for all you TAG ladies this week! It's a pattern book written and compiled by June Bartos, which provides vintage apron styles as shown at Dorothy's Aprons and Handmade Memories. For all you ladies who sew this weeks giveaway is right up your apron...hee, hee!

This book contains 20 practical patterns in the style of the early 20th century (1900's) which you can sew yourself. The patterns must be enlarged prior to sewing and directions are provided in the book explaining how to instruct the photocopy center where you do your enlargements. Also, this is not a "beginners" book for a total rookie seamstress.

The book primarily features adult aprons but has a few youth or children's patterns too. The apron styles vary between causal to formal and are mostly from the 1920's and 1930's. What is old is new and the styles shown are perfect for 2010! The patterns in this lovely book include a darling "Flapper" style apron. I can also admit to being very fond of the Ladies Tea Frock.

With these patterns you can completely customize your apron to fit you perfectly construct it from a fabric of your exacting taste.

To enter the drawing for a copy of this book visit Dorothy's site and look a the apron styles in the book. Come back and leave a comment on your favorite one. Please remember to leave an email address if you do not have a blog site.

Get an additional five entries into the drawing by posting on your blog about this book giveaway at your site.

For 10 additional entries in the book drawing send a photo of you in your favorite apron and a few lines about your "Apron Goddess" attitude, what you like to cook wearing your apron, or any other story you have about wearing your apron.

The entries for this contest close on February 27, 2009, 12:00 midnight.

I like so many of them. If I have to choose 1 then I will pick the 2 button frock.

I like the "Jessica" apron. I think it has the "slimming" effect in the design of it. And I need all the help I can get in that area! Teehee..

The flapper, the Jr. Tead Frock or the Minute Maid.
Hey I'm in it to win it! Dang I just need to buy one already.

Sophisticate or Simplicity....are the two that caught my I. There are many cute aprons to choose from. Thanks for the giveaway.
I'm a closet apron fan without a sewing machine...I think counseling is needed at this sad point.

I have posted your giveaway on my blog...linking it back to you....

Kiezie said... 14

How fun!! I would have to say the everyday frock, it reminds me of my grandmothers apron. But I would also wear the simplicity, for the coverage and the pockets!

I love the permanent wave. But they're all lovely.

It would be easier to say which one I didn't like, but if I had to choose just one it would be "Linda".. Clean lines and slimming.
I loved them all!

Anonymous said... 20

I totally love the Linda. I swear my grandma had one just like it. Thanks!

I have to add you to my blogroll - I keep forgetting to check for updates here, and I am something of an apronista these days!

My favorite apron is the Two-Button Frock, but if I am honest I probably ought to wear the Edwardian Overdress when I cook - I'm that messy!

Thank you for hosting this!

Terri said... 22

I blogged about the giveaway, and later this weekend I will send you photos of me in my poor, pathetic excuses for handmade aprons - see, I need to win this book! :)

i will add this giveaway on my blog. ;)
my fave is the coney island. i can see my grandma wearing this, she was a cook at a place called the "copper kettle" for many years. back in the heyday it was the "in" place to eat. my sister and i felt so special when we got to meet her there for lunch. everyone would touch our heads and call us , "dorothy's babies".
thanks for the great giveaway and the memories.

Definitely Grand Dam! I don't sew much but I have a friend who is a wonderful apron maker and I'd love to give this to her. I do, however, wear aprons to the point I have been known to go to the store forgetting it's on! Thanks for the chance.

Wanted to say a big THANK YOU!! for your kind comments over at Red Pine Mountain on my essay. :) Also, found your profile very interesting. My nephew is at Cornell studying to become an environmental attorney. We're all about keeping the world beautiful in our fam. Thanks for all you do on that front! :) Blessings.

P.S. We must be not too far from one another - Pismo is a day trip for us, too!
